Summary of course structure

FIRST 40 LECTURE HOURS

Dentists have the following two options to complete the first 40 hours of didactics:

OPTION 1 COURSE ATTENDANCE or OPTION 2 CORRESPONDENCE

  • OPTION 1 COURSE ATTENDANCE: Trainees are offered an opportunity to attend any 3-day lecture course preceding the clinical dates to achieve their 30 didactic hours at no additional charge. These courses include vigorous Q&A style lectures and hands-on simulations of common dental sedation emergency scenarios. You can find dates for these courses HERE.
  • OPTION 2 CORRESPONDENCE: Trainees can also complete their first 40 CE electronically. Access to the ADMA’s online testing platform allows students to achieve didactic proficiency around their personal schedules. Testing is administered in four categories:  IV Pharmacology, Monitors & Physiology, Prescreening & Discharge and Medical Emergencies. These tests work in conjunction with our course manuals and video lectures created by our board-certified anesthesiologists. After each test & video tutorial, students arrange a one-on-one live video conference with our anesthesiologists to review and train.
CLINICAL WEEK IN DAYTON

After 40 hours of didactic instruction is completed prior to the clinical course, students are able to obtain a maximum amount of hands-on clinical experience during their 5-day rotation at the ADMA AZ Sedation Training Clinic. Our small course sizes ensure one-on-one instruction during clinical cases and allows us to individually document all of your didactics during the week. Dr. Anna McGuire, DMD currently serves as the Dental Chairman for Kettering Health Residency, assuring that training meets the approval of the Kettering Health Residency program. Trainees are introduced to basic dental IV cases and challenged with difficult dental IV sedation situations in a supportive and instructional environment. Between live cases, trainees become thoroughly versed in proper responses to emergency situations using our state-of-the-art simulation equipment. By combining the specialized knowledge of anesthesiologists and the practiced experience of sedation dentists, the ADMA has created an IV sedation course that produces a safe, confident, and effective IV sedation practitioner.

ACLS IS INCLUDED

The ADMA teaches single sedative and combination protocols.  Midazolam and Fentanyl are the key sedative agents that dentists become proficient in administering. We teach basic and advanced techniques to ensure dentists are confident in the use of these agents.  Dentists become proficient in bolus and titration, combination dosing, and fentanyl infusions.

POST COURSE ASSISTANCE

Upon course completion, the ADMA guarantees our training will qualify for a permit. Course graduates are given a personalized walk through of their state-specific credentialing process and provided with an exclusive diploma suitable for office display. When they return to their respective offices, a complimentary office setup consultation is offered via video conference. Course graduates are also granted access to the discounted ADMA rates on emergency airway kits and monitors. Our job is not complete until your permit is successfully in your hands.
