Types of Sedation Permits

Arkansas requires training for minimal sedation and moderate sedation. The ADMA offers courses that can satisfy the requirements for minimal sedation and moderate sedation.

Arkansas requires any dentist administering minimal sedation must meet the ADA Guidelines of a minimum of 16 hours of training plus clinically-oriented experiences. The ADMA offers training that exceeds these requirements.

To obtain a moderate sedation permit, the dentist must have successfully completed a comprehensive training program in moderate sedation that satisfies the requirements described in the ADA Guidelines for Teaching Pain Control and Sedation to Dentists and Dental Students. The ADA Guidelines state training must include a minimum of 60 hours of instruction plus administration of sedation for a least 20 individually managed patients. CE Requirements to Maintain your Permit

Arkansas dentists are required to complete 50 CE credit every 2 years. The ADMA offers CE courses that qualify for 10 CE credits per day of training. Find links to qualifying sedation CE courses below.
